Pierre Cottrell ne souhaitait pas écrire son autobiographie. Il préférait la distiller lors de rares interviews, écrites ou audio, tel son « dialogue » avec Serge Toubiana lors de l’hommage qui lui fut rendu par la Cinémathèque française en juin 2011 ou le très long entretien accordé à Jacques Richard pour Radio Libertaire (reproduit ici intégralement). Nous avons réuni des extraits de ces interviews, ainsi que les articles publiés depuis sa mort le 23 juillet 2015, parfois accompagnés des rectifications nécessaires – il est vrai que peu nombreux étaient ceux qui avaient pu suivre son parcours exceptionnel, qui l’avait conduit de Paris à Hollywood, de Singapour au Portugal.

La personnalité de Pierre et ses activités ne faisaient qu’un, que ce soit lorsqu’il sous-titrait des films américains avec son ami Bernard Eisenschitz ou qu’il initiait la production d’un film auquel nul autre ne croyait.  Nous avons tenté de la montrer à travers des documents et photos inédits.

This site holds a facsimile of valuable documents from Pierre’s life. A vault filled with information. Faithful to Pierre’s spirit - a man who did not wish to write his autobiography, but preferred to distill his experiences in rare interviews, written texts or audio-recordings (such as his Dialogue with Serge Toubiana at the opening of the tribute Cinémathèque Française paid to him in 2011).  Photos, letters, the articles published since his death on July 23rd, 2015 and other key documents are also assembled here, many published for the first time. Completed lists of  his participation  and revised timelines explain the extent of Pierre’s exceptional career in cinema.

Pierre’s personality and his work are one. Whether he was subtitling American films with his long time colleague and friend, Bernard Eisenschitz, or starting a production that no one else believed in, he excelled.
